Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H. Garvey, Richard C.

Richard Garvey came to California in 1858 and served as a United States Army mail rider before and during the beginning of the Civil War. Garvey, one of the early developers of Los Angeles, subdivided his property and sold the parcels to pay his debt. Garvalia, Calif., now located in San Gabriel, was named for Garvey.
